How many workdays are left in the year?

Most years contain about 250–252 working days after weekends are removed. Knowing how many remain helps you plan delivery dates, PTO requests and payroll cycles without guesswork.

How the count works

We count Monday through Friday between today and December 31, then subtract any custom holidays you add. The result is the number of business days you actually have left to deliver work.

Why this matters at quarter and year-end

Project deadlines, payroll forecasting and PTO carryover all depend on real working days, not calendar days. Treating a four-week month as ‘20 days’ is wrong if a national holiday falls inside it.

Pair with PTO and payroll planning

Combine workday math with the PTO calculator and payroll-hours tool to see how remaining workdays translate into accrued PTO, available paychecks and deliverable scope before the year ends.

Frequently asked

Does this include public holidays?

By default we exclude weekends only. Add specific holidays in the calculator to remove them from the count for your region.

How many working days are in a typical year?

Between 250 and 252 working days, depending on which day of the week January 1 falls on and how many leap-year adjustments apply.
